Porsche 914 Chassis Restoration Services

The unibody chassis of your 914 is the most integral part of the car. Over the years and with exposure to the elements and hard driving, many of these cars are no longer in the structural state they once were. We take the guess work out of it by stripping by offering full A to Z chassis services for the 914s. We can take your car down to the bare metal, identify problem areas, address them, and reseal the chassis to keep it protected for years to come.

  • A silver 914 body shell without wheels or interior parts on a black metal cart outdoors, with a light blue building, a white vehicle, and trees in the background.

    Chassis Stripping

Every Porsche 914 restoration begins with stripping the chassis of the vehicle. Once the chassis is stripped we can fully evaluate for the presence of corrosion and begin to evaluate the extent to which rust/body damage repairs will need to be made.

  • A 914 body shell on a rolling cart in a workshop, with the hood open and a black powder-coated trunk in the foreground. Other vintage Porsches are visible in the background.

    Chassis Coating

Once stripped, the bare metal chassis of a Porsche 914 must be coated in an epoxy primer to prevent flash rusting, protect the metal and create a base for which to begin bodywork.

  • Metal sheet with drilled holes being attached to a partially assembled aircraft fuselage on a yellow stand, with a gloved hand holding the sheet.

    Chassis Preparation and Repair

After the chassis has been stripped and coated, metal repairs can begin.

  • A vintage 914 body that is stripped down and painted in blue inside a workshop, with a metal frame overhead and a garage door in the background.

    Body Work and Paint

A very important step in the restoration process is choosing a vendor to complete the body work and to paint the chassis. I work with several qualified body and paint specialists that have the ability to accommodate any level of restoration project.

  • Various metallic Porsche 914 suspension parts and hardware components laid out on a red cloth, including brackets, bolts, and circular mounts.

Reconditioning and Restoration of System Components

Each system of the vehicle is disassembled and renewed. All components rebuilt and restored. All wiring and electrical components cleaned, tested and restored to as-new condition.

  • The underside of a Porsche 914 that is disassembled, including wiring and mechanical parts, in a workshop setting.

    Chassis Reassembly

Installation of all of the newly restored components to the chassis is one of the most rewarding phases of the restoration.
