Key Problem Areas On 914s

Battery Tray (Hell Hole)

  • It’s called the “hell hole” for a reason. This is a SUPER common rot area on the 914s. We have successfully repaired and rewelded dozens of these areas with patch panels that bring back the structural rigidity of the battery tray area and prevents future rust.

Jacking Point/Longitudinal

  • Nearly as common as the battery tray rust can be, these areas on a 914 are prime candidates for serious rust to form and if you aren’t under the car much you will never notice. This is a more intensive repair process but it is something we do regularly.

Roll Bar (Sail) Panel

  • While Vinyl roofs are a cool retro feature - they also tend to seal in moisture below the vinyl causing rust to form that shows itself when the vinyl is finally removed. We can cut and replace the sail panels on your 914 during the restoration process.

Front Trunk Seal Channels

  • This is another common rust area on the 914s due to how the water runs down the channel. We routinely do sheet metal repairs on these channels where if the rust isn’t too bad - it’s a relatively simple job.

Floor Pan Repair/Replacement

  • If your 914 was sitting over grass for years, chances are the floor pan has started accumulating rust from the moisture trapped under the car. On these cars the floor pan is a crucial structural component for rigidity and rust here must NOT be taken lightly. Whether you need a floor pan patch panel or a full pan replacement - we can do it.

Accident Repair

  • Some 914s have lived harder lives than others over the last 50 or so years. If your car has gotten into an accident and has damage that is repairable - we can reconstruct your car and get it straight again.
